Alpine Minerals from the Lungau Area

Quartz, Albite, Rutile, Pyrite

Ameliekluft / Oberweißburg / Lungau / Salzburg / Austria

12,3 x 6 x 5,5 cm

Video

Big, good quality Quartz crystal, on one side grey colored because of inclusions of the mother rock (black phyllite or black slate) and on the other side clear. The specimen shows Albite crystals grown on and some small Rutile and Pyrite can be found, the rusty-orange coating is Limonite. Over all the condition is good (specimen was part of my personal collection), backside was on the rock and at the base are a few chips.

Quartz, Albite

Ameliekluft / Oberweißburg / Lungau / Salzburg / Austria

6,5 x 3,5 x 3,2 cm

This is an interesting specimen of Quartz. The specimen is crystallized as a floater and complete all around. As second mineral, some Albite crystals can be found. The crystal shows, as the most crystals from this find, a very good quality and has some interesting inclusions. No significant damage, only one chip on one side!

Fluorite

Weißeck / Muhr / Lungau / Salzburg / Austria

15 x 9 x 3,5 cm

Super cool specimen of Fluorite from the famous Weißeck mountain in Austria. The specimen comes from a new find, the so called "Rucksackkluft", which was discovered in 2020. Here you see a plate, which entirely consists of Fluorite, showing intergrown cubes on the front. The Fluorite shows a light purple color in daylight, the outer zones are colorless and the core is purple. With backlight the specimen shows it´s beautiful color, as you can see on the second image (made with LED, universal white). Please note that the color varies depending on the light source! No damage to report!
